I am really saddened by this new behavior where the Kenyan touts
think they have the mandate and authority to strip any woman on sight
that they feel is not appropriately dressed. This is uncouth, barbaric,
uncalled for and certainly SICKENING! What makes you think you have a
right to touch someone's daughter or better yet, mother, and strip her
all because your small minds take you to that direction? I am very
bitter about this and I had to address it.
Now, does
this mean whenever I have to step out of my house, I should wear a
turtle neck cloth, add a scarf, wear a trouser and a long skirt on top
to cover up the trouser? What is this? Am I dressing to please the touts
or dressing because I want to feel good and comfortable? I mean why
burn myself with heat out of over dressing just because some mere
uneducated and idle man is just waiting somewhere to mount on me and
strip me naked in public. Is this the only solution to what they term as
'indecent dressing'? How do you correct a wrong with a wrong? Do you
see women undressing men for sagging their trousers so low you might
think the whole world was placed inside those trousers to make them sag
that bad? But we do not judge, we look, get amused and move on.
Do
these men even realize what kind of image they are showcasing about
their own country? Who would want to visit a country where there own
freedom of dressing is abused? Kenya's name is slowly being dragged into
mud without us even realizing it.
On that note, I will be walking with a panga in my handbag. If someone lays hands on me by God they will feel my wrath.
